LP to listen to this week

DENT MAY – ACROSS THE MULTIVERSE

Dent May’s, ‘Across the Multiverse’, whilst not as good as the superlative, ‘Warm Blanket’ from 2013, that album set a pretty high bar. Early impressions are quite enjoyable and definitely worth a spin.

Singles worth your time

MASTON – SWANS

Maston is back and thank the lord. 4 years between Maston albums is too long. His masterful take on baroque psych pop is in full bloom as we get an opportunity to hear the first track from his upcoming album, ‘Tulips’.

LCD SOUNDSYTEM – TONITE

Another new track from LCD Soundsystem’s forthcoming album, ‘American Dream’. Per usual James Murphy has commentary on pop music today. You can also check out a video for this track.

ARIEL PINK – FEEL LIKE HEAVEN

The latest single from the eccentric Ariel Pink is a continuation of the sound he’s been working with from his last LP, ‘Pom Pom’. It’s reminiscent of the 80’s sound produced by The Smiths in a good way.

THE HORRORS – SOMETHING TO REMEMBER ME BY

Rhys Webb and the boys from The Horrors are back with a new single. It’s a pretty catchy electro pop tune that’s been playing in my head ever since.

One to Skip

ALICE GLASS – SELF/TITLED EP

I was a fan of Crystal Castles and was quite looking forward to what she would put out, but after my first listen I don’t really care to go back. It all feels a bit disjointed and doesn’t really have much sticking power or anything original enough to bring me back. If you want to check it out for yourself and tell me how wrong I am, feel free. It’s embedded below.
